Privacy Policy

connect takes data privacy very seriously. We strive to store only the absolutely necessary information for the shortest possible time. Furthermore, we take all usual technical measures to prevent unauthorized access to your data on our servers.

This privacy policy is intended to explain the most important points on how we ensure data privacy. If you have questions regarding data privacy, please contact privacy@4connect-e.com.


1. Login Data

In order for every user to be able to recover his account in the event of a deletion of the app, it is technically necessary to register with a telephone number or (fake, only for this purpose created) e-mail address. This is the only way we can give every user access to his profile information and settings stored on our servers when starting connect from a new device.

This registration is NOT necessary for the use of connect, but without registration the account can easily be lost or stolen by a stranger.In the case of a registration, the e-mail address or telephone number is securely stored on our Swiss server.

With the express consent of the user (settings), news about connect can be sent to the e-mail address or telephone number used for registration. However, this data will never be passed on to third parties or misused for advertising purposes.

2. Security of messages

All messages sent via your own connect chat are end-to-end encrypted. This means that e.com GmbH, as the operator of the connect servers, has no way of decrypting user messages, since it has no knowledge of the private keys. The messages can only be read by the sender and recipient. Unfortunately this is not technically possible for messages to other networks (e.g. SMS or Facebook messages), but these are sent directly and not via our servers (see below).

The encrypted connect messages and all media (images, videos etc.) are deleted from our servers as soon as they have been delivered successfully.

Header information of messages (sender, recipient etc.) is protected by an additional encryption layer for transmission to the server, and from the server to the recipient, to prevent eavesdropping by third parties (e.g. in open wireless LANs).

3. Multi Messenger data

If the user links connect with external communications or messenger services (such as text messages, mail, or Facebook), then the data (e.g. account information or messages) is stored on his device and not on our servers. The messages are sent directly via the external services and e.com GmbH does not have access to them.

4. Synchronize the contact list

At the moment connect does NOT synchronize any contact lists, i.e. Facebook contacts or phone book contacts are not forwarded to our servers in any way. For the future, however, a synchronization is planned so that if a phone book, mail or external messenger contact of the user also uses connect, he will automatically become his connect contact too. This means that it is no longer necessary to search and add each individual contact manually.

However, this will require that the e-mail addresses, telephone numbers and IDs of other messenger services are encrypted ("hashed") for synchronization and additionally transmitted to the connect server in one-way encrypted ("hashed") form and additionally protected using SSL. These hashes do not allow conclusions about original data(!) and are neither passed on to third parties nor used for advertising purposes.

5. Crash reports

If the user explicitly chooses to submit a crash report about the Android app, information about the crash (state of the app at the time of the crash, last log messages) will be sent to Google and stored there for analysis by e.com GmbH.

6. General provisions

connect's own server is located in Switzerland and complies with the strictest protective measures. In general, the regulations of the Austrian Data Protection Authority and the European General Data Protection Regulation apply.
